Footsteps records the locations in the background, without you doing anything. It's also very efficient in saving battery life. It consumes just 1% of daily battery power, depends on how far you travel each day(the longer you travel, the more battery power it consumes). Of course with any location tracking apps, your privacy is the most important. We will never send any location information to any server. All your location information stays with the phone. We use Facebook parse as our backend to keep track of your in-app purchases and push notification. Nothing else is sent to Facebook or us. Important disclaimer: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
